The Wagner MMC210 moisture meter is an excellent meter for use with wood flooring and woodworking. It works superbly well with hardwood and softwood species of timber, but if you are planning on working with tropical exotic species then the more advanced MMC220 is the moisture meter for you. This model can be used on other building materials that have similar densities to wood.
Again the good Wagner design makes this meter a pleasure to have and use. The readings are given quickly and accurately and once finished working with, the meter fits nicely in to the pocket.
Using The Wagner MMC210 Moisture Meter
Turning the moisture meter on is done by pressing the on/hold button and gently releasing. Once a reading has been obtained, pressing the hold button will freeze the reading for you. After 60 seconds of no use or no button pushing the meter will turn itself off thanks to the energy saving auto shut off feature. Again and again this meter proves it’s worth in difficult to get to places for testing moisture content.
Before you take a measurement reading with the MMC210 you need to sure that you have set specific gravity setting correctly or you will get a wrong reading for your particular wood.
For taking a reading you need to ensure that the sensor plate of the meter has good contact with the testing subject. If there is any surface moisture present before testing, you need to wipe it away and allow the surface to dry for a short time.
For wood that is thinner than the scan depth of the meter you must create an air gap under the wood before testing. The air gap should be about 1 inch and there should be nothing under the wood, particularly no metal.
The moisture meter is an expensive product and quite sensitive so you need to store it correctly to keep it in tip top working condition. Never store it in extremely hot or extremely cold places and do always store it inside it’s case.
Your moisture meter will have been calibrated at the Wagner factory and not re-
